Curiously Adorable

Blakelyn at 10 months.

Un-official stats:
Height: 30"
Weight: 19.6 lbs.

While I hoped this month would be the crawling month, it's not. It is the curiously adorable month because that is how best to describe Blakelyn this month.

On our way to Birmingham:

Blakelyn loves when we are "below" her.  She will laugh and cackle when we are.

Playing with "old school" toys with JJ:

So apparently we are very lucky that Blakelyn will play with toys.  Bryan and his siblings never did.  So JJ and Pops are very excited to have a grandchild that will play with the toys they bought years ago for their kids.

Of course everything goes into the mouth:

Blakelyn has developed a desire to "taste" every new surface she comes in contact with:
Oh look wood arm rest:

I must taste it!:

Happy screaming with family around!

I can't crawl, but I can do a plank!

Hey look, I have feet!

Helping with laundry...

Peek-a-

-boo!

Flexible!

New surface, carpet, must lick it!

Bryan's cousin, Paul, was traveling through town and stopped by to meet Blakelyn!

It came time to lower the crib:

No, she didn't pull herself to a stand, but she is strong enough to hang on!

Traveling to Knoxville!
Blakelyn's neck was hanging in what seemed uncomfortable (she was fine).  We fixed the tilting issue when we got home.

We traveled up to Knoxville for a wedding.  We forgot to take pictures at the venue because we were so worried about what Blakelyn would do.  She was great! She loved the music, dancing, and lights!  The music was loud enough that her happy scream wasn't even noticed!
The dress she wore was hand smocked by JJ!

While in Knoxville we got to meet up with one of my classmates from Maryville.  I guess I should have gotten a picture of Megan and I, oh well.  Kids take precedence now.
Isaiah meeting Blakelyn.

Sporting her only school paraphernalia, Maryville College!

Apparently the schools in Georgia aren't good enough for the sporting stores to carry their paraphernalia... So when I went to Atlanta for a weekend I ran by TJMaxx and picked up some Georgia Tech and University of Georgia clothing.  I had the clothing piled up in a heap and Blakelyn picked out all the red clothing (University of Georgia)!  I guess she's bleeds red & black!

When we are in the office, Blakelyn likes to play with what she finds.  We have a few weights stacked in a corner.  I was needing to do something and wanted Blakelyn to be occupied so I gave her a 2 lb. weight to play with (haha she can't lift it, she'll be occupied for a while)... she can lift it! Great, so now I have to worry about her dropping it! (oh, and she can now lift a 5 lb...)

Playing with toys!

Sleeping yoga style:

I noticed walking into church that they matched!

Navy & white stripes!

This picture is from Blakelyn's 9 month appointment.  Not sure if I put it in a different post or not. She did well.  They did check her anemia levels, hence the bandaid on her toe. Blakelyn has a tendency to notice the pain from the shots, but quickly gets over it. This appointment she sucked the bandaid off maybe 5 minutes afterwards...

I just love watching her sleep!

Profile:

I love when Blakelyn does this! She will be playing and then get tired and just lay there regaining momentum.

Playing in the kitchen... is that a new surface??

Must be!

9 Months!

Official 9 Month Stats:

Height: 29.5 inches (95%)
Weight: 17 lbs 4 oz (25%)
Head Circumference: 17 inches

Blakelyn did well at her doctors visit.  She didn't get any immunization shots, but they did check for anemia and we both got a flu shot.  When the doctor walked in she was greeted by Blakelyn with a big ole smile and a happy scream! Blakelyn didn't mind the doctor checking her out, in fact when the doctor checked her eyesight she was smiling the whole time (probably thought she was getting her picture taken).  The only thing Blakelyn didn't like was having to lay down to change her clothes and get the flu shot.

For the record, Blakelyn has done well during all her shots.  She notices the shock of pain, cries a little, then quickly gets over it. Like I said, for the flu shot she was too upset having to lay down that as soon as I sat her up, she was good to go.

The anemia prick was a lot better than the PKU test she got at 2 weeks.  Again, Blakelyn noticed the prick of pain, looked up and reached for me, then watched in mesmerization as the technician squeezed her toe to take the sample (all I had to do was hug her to reassure her she was ok).

After the anemia check, Blakelyn was interested in the bandaid and had to taste it to explore it...
she sucked the bandaid right off!

Photo Shoot:
This months photo shoot was a bit more interesting since Blakelyn was a bit more curious about her surroundings now that she can sit and manipulate herself to explore (without crawling).

9 Months Old!
We have noticed her exploring her hands more this month. Blakelyn will stare at her hands as she wiggles her fingers, rotates her wrist, wave, etc.  I do believe our first sign is on its way!

Must reach for the brush and comb!

Got 'em!

Oh look there's something over here too!

Hey pink bear, I can explore more this month!

I know my limits, mommy moved the coaster out of my reach and I'm not willing (yet) to try and reach for it because I'll fall over.

Always reaching...

Whoa, look what I can do!  I can make the glider move by myself!

Oh a ball...

I'm more interested in the coaster.

Oh a rattle, how long will this last?...

A while.

It took a couple tries to capture this interaction...
Look a clown!

I've got a clown.

But I'm not interested, bye bye clown.

Where did the clown go? Maybe mommy will play fetch!

I'm sure if I look at the pictures of her on this bear that I would see a size difference, but I never do.

But she is a happy baby!

Finally something different about this prop, first time to stretch her legs out!

Stopped wiggling for a split second to check out those whales on the curtains.

New angle, sitting up!
Are those books I see on the shelf?!  Am I able to reach for them without falling over?!?

Maybe some other day, but I've got my eye on them!

Oh look a blanket.

New prop.

I'm such a big girl sitting up!

Rattles always entertain!
